Head Golf Professional

Elk Ridge Resort, the host course of PGA Tour Americas “Elk Ridge Saskatchewan Open” a is a 27-hole championship golf course located two hours from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and seven minutes outside of Prince Albert National Park.  Surrounded by the boreal forest, pristine lakes and natural wildlife, the area is rich with nature and outdoor experiences. The renowned banquet and dining facilities provide an idyllic venue for special events.

Job Summary

The Head Golf Professional is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the golf operation at Elk Ridge Resort. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of golf operations, and a passion for the game. They will also be an excellent communicator with strong motivational skills, energetic and service driven. They will provide a culture where staff are motivated and enthusiastic about meeting the needs and enhancing the overall golfing experience for all guests.

Responsibilities

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Golf Operations Management

    • Oversee Pro-shop, Back shop, driving range, staffing, and tee time scheduling.

    • Address inquiries and concerns promptly.

    • Manage course play and coordinate with grounds staff for optimal conditions.

    • Communicate course conditions to members and collaborate with Course Superintendent.

    • Assist with marketing efforts.

  • Staff Leadership

    • Recruit, hire, and train all Golf Operations staff.

    • Lead, mentor, and retain a strong team.

    • Evaluate performance and provide feedback.

    • Manage staff scheduling, time sheets, and payroll.

    • Ensure adherence to policies and procedures for a positive guest experience.

  • Customer Service/Guest Engagement

    • Maintain a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.

    • Provide exceptional service and address guest needs.

    • Respond to inquiries and concerns promptly.

    • Stay visible and engaged with guests.

  • Event Management

    • Plan and execute golf tournaments, outings, and special events.

    • Collaborate with Events team to ensure smooth event execution.

  • Pro Shop Operations

    • Manage inventory, sales, and merchandising in the Pro Shop.

    • Align inventory with current trends and brand standards.

    • Optimize tee sheet and golf cart management.

  • Budget Management

    • Prepare and manage Golf Operations budget.

    • Control expenses and drive revenue growth.

    • Submit approved invoices to accounting promptly.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a leadership role at a golf club, preferably as a Head Golf Professional or Associate Golf Professional, is essential.

  • A passion for delivering exceptional customer service to members and guests.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proven ability to manage budgets and drive revenue.

  • Previous experience in golf management

  • PGA of Canada Member 

  • Experience coordinating tournaments and corporate events

  • Experience with the Tee-On system an asset

Compensation

  • $70,000 – $85,000

    • Based on experience and year-round work

Duration

The is a full-time position with a schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays during the golf season.
