Take your career to the boreal forest as an Events Manager at Elk Ridge Resort.

Elk Ridge Resort is looking for a full-time, year-round Events Manager who will be integral to the success of the Operations Management team. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Events Manager will be the main point of contact for on-resort events. They will coordinate with sales, operational departments, and groups to ensure consistent, high-level service throughout pre-event, event, and post-event phases of hotel events. They will recognize opportunities to maximize revenue by up-selling and offering enhancements to create outstanding events. Responsibilities also include working with operations staff to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.

Specific Responsibilities 

Operations 

  • Complete contracts in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy.     

  • Create, manage, and distribute Banquet Event Orders and floorplans in a timely manner to the Client and to the Operations teams. 

  • Facilitate various meetings as necessary (Banquet Event Order meeting, block review, etc.).

  • Manage group room blocks and meeting spaces for assigned groups.

  • Create Group Resumes, distribute them in a timely manner, and hold regular meetings to ensure all departments are prepared and updated for each group’s arrival.

  • Lead pre-event and post-event meetings for groups/clients. 

  • Proactively identify operational challenges associated with the group, and work with the hotel staff and customer to solve these challenges, and/or develop alternative solutions.

  • Greet customers during the event phase and work alongside the Banquet team to ensure the event is executed according to Elk Ridge Standards.

  • Be responsible for financial management of events from quoting to final billing, including invoicing and taking payments.

Guest Satisfaction/Relationship Management 

  • Build and maintain successful and mutually beneficial relationships with clients throughout the planning, execution, and follow-up, ensuring client retention.

  • Set a positive example for guest relations.

  • Consult with customers to determine a comprehensive needs analysis. 

  • Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels.

  • Effectively respond to and handle guest problems and complaints.

  • Conduct pre- and post-event meetings as required to review/communicate group needs and feedback; must send post-event feedback, follow-up, and summary of all events to Director of Operations.  

Sales and Revenue Management/Business Development 

  • Effectively up-sell products and services throughout the event process.

  • Effectively manage client budgets to maximize revenue and meet customer needs.

  • Accurately forecast event/accommodations revenue for groups.

  • Provide regular sales reports to Senior Management.

  • Liaise with the Sales Manager to secure business acquisition with a focus on event space, guestrooms, and additional services.

  • Be aware of and in contact with comp set counterparts.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • The successful candidate must have 2-3 years of experience in an Events-Related position and a Minimum of 1 year in sales.

  • This is a full-time, salaried position with the expectation that the position reports to work depending on business needs. Evening and weekend availability is required. The position must work five (5) days per week on-site at Elk Ridge Resort and, if required, may be instructed to work additional time due to any special events that may be occurring.

  • Tripleseat Event Management Software experience is an asset.

  • Maestro PMS experience is an asset.

  • Must be highly organized and able to multi-task with keen attention to detail.

  • Must have strong communication, interpersonal, and guest service skills.

  • Has quick and creative problem-solving skills.

  • Able to learn, adapt, and be efficient in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
